You will then attend a one-day introductory course (7 hours) at the Studio in Milan, where the Pilates method will be illustrated theoretically and practically. Participants will become familiar with the technique and appreciate its potentialities.
During the introductory course the Studio Pilates evaluates your preparation and inclination to teach. You will also get to know the technical-admin aspects involved in opening your own Pilates School, including a business plan to estimate revenue and expenditure of the future activity. You will consider the Pilates trademark licence and the support in opening a new studio with the relative advertising and marketing.
After the course the participants are free to decide if they want to continue or not.
In order to become a CovaTech Pilates Teacher you must attend a Workout of 5 private lessons and 10 semi-private classes at the CovaTech Pilates Studio of your choice.
After the Workout you will be admitted to the Full Immersion Course held at the Milan Studio. This generally takes place during a 4-day period over a weekend, once a month for three consecutive months - a total of 16 days for 112 hours in all. More concentrated sessions can be worked out over holiday periods to suit participants who have work committments.
On completion of the course you will have a period of teacher training in class. The first session lasts for 100 hours, after which you will take the written exam and be able to work alongside a CovaTech Pilates Teacher during lessons. When you take the written exam you will also decide on the title of your Thesis.
After passing the written exam, another 50-hour session of class training begins at the Milan headquarters. This helps check the candidate's student-teacher preparation and helps decide if the candidate is ready to take the practical exam in front of a panel of commissioners or whether some further hours of preparation are necessary.
When the Student-Teacher goes before the panel of commissioners, the first draft of the thesis will also be examined.
The practical exam, in front of a panel including AnnaMaria Cova, Program Director of the CovaTech Pilates School, and other CovaTech Pilates teacher trainers, includes the performing and explanation of some exercises and demonstration of the manoeuvres. In addition, a brief presentation of the thesis is made.
Once these stages have been completed you are awarded the CovaTech Pilates title and you are qualified to teach as a CovaTech Pilates Teacher.
Our courses are planned and organized to give you a solid and complete preparation of the CovaTech Pilates method.
However don't forget that this is just the first step. When you get to know the Pilates method, you realize how vast and complex, how involving and surprising it is, both from the gymnastic and technical-rehabilitation points of view.
We firmly believe that the best way to learn and then teach the method involves a continual exchange of personal experiences and knowledge.
That's why our Teaching Program envisages seminars, refresher courses, thematic courses. conferences, studio meetings and suchlike, to up-date and complete your preparation.
